Taunton Area Community Table (TACT)

At our Dec 2019 meeting,Taunton Area Community Table (TACT) was selected to receive our collective donation of over $10,000.

Early the following January, we were honored to deliver our donation to TACT and to meet its founders, Michaeline Saladyga and Wendy Berry.  TACT is a community-based meal center dedicated to providing delicious, healthy meals to individuals & families in a warm, friendly and safe atmosphere in an under served section of Taunton MA.

After a combined 10 years experience running a more traditional soup kitchen, Michaeline and Wendy decided to branch out and start TACT. Their collective passion and enthusiasm for their project was contagious and we loved hearing of their goal to break the traditional “soup kitchen” stereotype. Instead of waiting in line to sit at long, narrow tables, guests are treated to a cafe-style setting.  Tables seat 4 to 6 guests, and all meals are served by volunteers at their seats.  On Thursday evenings, they host a “Family Cafe" during which kid-friendly meals are served and coloring books, crayons, and card games are shared for after dinner entertainment.

TACT Is not only providing nutritious meals but also helping to build a community for their guests. We were humbled by the commitment of Wendy, Michaeline and their volunteers and so thankful that we, 100 Women Who Care Boston, were able to further their cause.
